What is OLCall?
OLCall is a program that detects when a call is waiting
while you are online and then you can disconnect and answer the call or
you can stay online and ignore the call.
How does it work?
When somebody calls you the program detects it and it shows a warning
window.
At that moment you can reject the call and stay connected or discconect
and answer the call.
If you accept the call the program will disconnect you and the telephone
will start to ring. Then you can pick up the phone and answer the call
as if it was a new call.
If you want to see screenshots of the program go to the
screenshots section.
What does it need?
-
You need to have one of the next operating systems:
- Windows 95
- Windows 98
- Windows Me
- Windows NT
- Windows 2000
-
You need to have the call waiting service. If you don't know if
you have it or not you can answer to your telephone company, they will tell you
if you have this service and how to activate it.
-
The detection of a call waiting is based on a real time recording of the
sound of your telephone line.
As the program records the telephone sound from your sound card you need
to communicate the telephone line to your sound card with one of then next
methods:
-
If your modem has a speaker output (and it's not a 3Com/USRobotics modem)
you can connect the modem with a cable pluged into your modem speaker output
and into your sound card sound input (mic, line-in, ...).
-
Welding a sound cable to your modem internal sepaker and connecting the other
side to your sound card sound input.
-
Building a small circuit that connects your telephone line to your sound
card sound input.
-
If you have a software modem or a modem that is connected internally to
your sound card you won't need any sound cable...
