Armstrong named fire chief (Fort Frances Times)
Gerald Armstrong has accepted the position of fire chief for the Town of Fort Frances on a permanent basis, effective July 24, 2006. Armstrong has been acting in an interim capacity, replacing former fire chief Steve Richardson since the middle of May.

Busy weekend for MNR firefighters (Fort Frances Times)
Only one new fire was reported in Northwestern Ontario yesterday. The fire occurred in the Dryden district and has now been declared “out.” But the West Fire Region saw a significant increase in number new fires starts over the weekend, responding to a total of 25 new fires.
